My Child Is Also Affected By ASUU Strike - Chris Ngige



The minister of labour and productivity, Chris Ngige has revealed that his child is also affected by the ongoing strike action by members of te Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Speaking with the state house correspondent after the Federal Executive Council Meeting, the minister said that then Nigeria government will leave no stone upturned in its effort to ensure the strike is called off.

He also said the federal government is working to reach a conclusive agreement with the executive body of ASUU so that the students can go back to their classrooms.

"I have my child at home as we speak. Government is leaving no stone unturned to nmake sure tht we reach a conclusive agreement with ASUU so that they can go back to their classes." He said.

He also added that "students who are supposed to take their exams and promotional exams have been forced by circumstances beyond their control to stay at their various hones."
 
ASUU president, Biodun Ogunyemi during a Television interview, confirmed that the union will not be attending the meeting scheduled with the federal government. Ogunyemi also said that "ASUU had met and discussed the new offer from the government on its demand."

He said that the union had already submitted a proposal to the federal government on its decision.
